T.P. STEP!!!!!!

This month of October, First Lutheran is ready for some Fall fun! We are T.P.ing STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program). Every day, STEP needs 80 rolls to distribute to your neighbors. So far, 124 rolls (supplying a day and a half's need) have been brought over to the food shelf. We want to get at least a week's worth this month. So "LET'S ROLL!"

Go shopping for toilet paper, and don't decorate your friends' or neighbors' yards, bring that T.P. to First Lutheran! Come on, we are on a roll! There are two more days worth of product stacked in our collection area right now. Instead of pitching all of that T.P. up into trees or over the roof, pitch in at our toilet paper drive.

July Opportunities

We need volunteers to package food on July 12 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the FMSC Brooklyn Center location. Some groups meet at church and carpool together. To volunteer, call the church at 952-929-6465 and leave a message or see Wendi at church.

Our Saviour’s Shelter Supper on July 11th

First Lutheran is serving chicken, potatoes, salad, rolls, a vegetable, milk and dessert. If you would like help, new and “experienced” servers are welcome! The meal costs between $80.00 and 100.00 so if you can’t join us, contributions to the grocery fund are always appreciated. We leave for the shelter around 6:30 p.m. and are back by 8:30. Please call Mark or Carolee at 952-935-5608 or see one of us at church to donate or to sign up for serving.

STEP Food and School Supply Drive!

Ascension and First are partnering to combat the summer donation slump by having a joint food drive. Please bring healthy, kid-friendly foods and snacks to church. It is never too early to start picking up bargain school supplies for the annual S.T.E.P school supply drive in August. The kids in your community need your help!

Two cents....doesn't sound like much....

The price of rice has skyrocketed in the past two months. At Feed My Starving Children, rice is the main ingredient in the meals that are sent around the world to nourish hungry children. Volunteers packaged 43 million meals last year and this means that the cost of a meal packet has increased from 15 to 17 cents. Your help is needed to cover the higher cost of purchasing rice. Please consider donating to Feed My Starving Children today! Click on the link to Feed My Starving Children's website under "WHERE WE SERVE" in the upper right of this page.

FIRE!! Our Saviour's Needs Your Help

As you may have heard on the news, there was a fire in one of Our Saviour's transitional housing units. Many donations have been received, so they are making progress furnishing the new home. However, they could still use a kitchen table and 8 chairs, small dressers, a small desk, 4 living room chairs, 2 vacuum cleaners, 1 telephone, 2 answering machines, 2 dish racks, a lawn mower, 50 W light bulbs, Target giftcards, $10.00 Cub giftcards, and cash donations to replenish supplies at the new unit.

To donate or to get more information, contact Maryellen at 612-872-4193 x 25.
